Dear Allstat
The Royal Statistical Society invites you to attend and/or contribute to the discussion on the paper 'A comparison of sample survey measures of earnings of English graduates with administrative data' by Jack Britton, Neil Shephard and Anna Vignoles.
The paper will be presented to the Society at the Discussion Meeting to be held at the Barbican<https://www.barbican.org.uk/your-visit/getting-here/map-directions> on Wednesday, October 17th at 5:30pm in Auditorium 2 (Level 4).
Tea and coffee will be available from 5pm in the Frobisher Room next door.
This meeting is being held during our first ever 'Members' Week' and the post-meeting reception will be hosted by our President-elect, Deborah Ashby.
The meeting is free to attend but registration is required<https://events.rss.org.uk/rss/271/register>.
Full details of this Discussion meeting are posted in StatsLife<https://www.statslife.org.uk/events/events-calendar/eventdetail/1258/-/rss-discussion-meeting-a-comparison-of-sample-survey-measures-of-earnings-of-english-graduates-with-administrative-data> and on our website<http://www.rss.org.uk/RSS/Publications/Journals/Discussion_Papers/RSS/Publications/Journals_sub/discussion_papers.aspx?hkey=edfa4f9b-d001-49aa-bab9-e903b204e5d7#britton>, from where you can also download the PDF file of the paper.
Contributing to the discussion
We welcome contributions to the discussion following the presentation of the paper. It would be helpful, though not essential, if you could let me know in advance that you wish to contribute so that I can reserve a speaking slot of 5 minutes (maximum) and your name can be called. Please contact me on [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
If you cannot attend, we would be happy to receive a written contribution from you of no more than 400 words in length (not including any tables, reference details and figures). Please provide the following information at the beginning of your contribution:
* the author(s) and title of the paper under discussion
* your name (including your title) and your affiliation, as you would wish it to appear on your printed contribution, e.g. Dr X, University of Y, City Z
* an e-mail or full postal address where we can send the proofs of your contribution for checking (about 3 months after the meeting)
If you can submit your written contribution before the meeting and there is time it may be read out for discussion.
After the meeting, contributions may be submitted for publication by sending a PDF file (plus a separate file for each figure) direct to me at the Society's address before Wednesday, October 31st, 2018. This deadline is important to help the authors of the paper, who will consider all the contributions and compose a reply in limited time, and to help the timely production of the journal. A condition of publication of your contribution is that you assign copyright to the Society on the form that will be provided when we send you proofs to check.
With thanks,
Judith
