Dear Gemma,
I am sorry, unfortunately don't have direct links to people involved
with Aadhaar.
Maybe Indian scholars on the list can help (I am based in Italy) ?
Surprisingly, Aadhaar has a very low attention level in research and
press beyond India, despite being the biggest (known) state-sponsored
centralized biometric identification project.
Other states, like Morocco, are interested in implementing this kind of
"solution".
Edward Snowden recently stated that Indians could "face a civil death
given that Aadhaar is being linked to everything"

Snowden's comments follow an article from former head of India’s
external intelligence agency:

Here are a few more articles from press, pointing at a "bad data
escalation effect": using bad data prompts the need for more bad data.
Since fingerprint biometrics are proved unreliable, face recognition is
to be considered mandatory since september 2018.
<https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/face-recognition-to-be-must-for-all-aadhaar-authentications/articleshow/65522828.cms>
<https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/uidai-announces-phased-rollout-of-face-authentication-with-telcos-from-sept-15/articleshow/65450241.cms>
Given that FR is equally unreliable, what will come next? DNA?
bests,
Alberto
