Subject: URGENT Symposium for York Conference 2019
Further to Bruce's announcement of the plan for a network symposium at the York conference next year I am circulating this with a few more details including the deadline, following discussions with Varda Soskolne.
Social Work in Health and Mental Health: York 2019
Symposium on Health Inequalities Among Children, Adolescents and Young Adults
This symposium will aim to present a set of three or four papers which have a particular focus on health inequalities related to children, adolescents and young adults (CAYAs). If more papers of suitable quality are submitted then two symposia may be developed, each with a distinct theme.
The main areas we would like to see papers cover will:
• Apply health inequalities concepts to aspects of CAYAs’ lives or
• Present research which identifies and/or explains unequal health outcomes in CAYAs or
• Explore the impact of social work interventions on reducing health inequalities affecting CAYAs.
All papers must focus on or have direct relevance to social work and will be expected to show awareness of intersectionality: the relevance of cross cutting dimensions of structural inequality and identity. Ideally papers will combine a conceptual discussion of health inequalities with empirical evidence.
Time is short and so all abstracts must be submitted to me at this email address by September 15th so we can consider submissions and prepare a single symposium abstract. Earlier enquiries about possible submissions would be welcome too.
Many thanks,
Paul
