As part of our partnership with the Poverty Alliance, the Scottish Poverty and Inequality Research Unit (SPIRU) are holding our first “Challenge Poverty Week” annual lecture at Glasgow Caledonian University on Monday 1st October 2018 at 6 pm (followed by a food and drinks reception).
We are delighted to announce that Professor Kate Pickett (Professor of Epidemiology, University of York) will deliver a lecture on “The Need for a Wellbeing Economy: How More Equal Societies Reduce Stress, Restore Sanity and Improve Everyone’s Wellbeing”.
Kate Pickett is co-author (with Richard Wilkinson) of the best-selling “The Spirit Level: Why More Equal Societies Almost Always Do Better“ (2009), which has significantly influenced debates about the impact of inequality across the world. She is also co-founder of the Equality Trust.
The lecture is open to all and free to attend and is an opportunity to hear arguments for a more equal society from one of the key thinkers in this important area of public policy.
