Hi All
I am interested in setting up an informal network for LGBTQ members of the Social Policy Association. The full purpose behind the network can be discussed by interested parties in due course but I would expect the following the be key parts of the network:
• Providing a safe space and collegiate support for LGBTQ members of the Social Policy Association
• To provide peer support within the SPA
• To hold at least one meeting a year for LGBTQ colleagues to come together to share experiences and concerns – this need not align with the SPA conference
• To contribute to SPA consultations where appropriate on the direction of the association and its strategic objectives
• To raise awareness of diversity within the association primarily, but not exclusively, around LGBTQ issues
• Whilst not intended to be a research group the network could facilitate research focused events for network members and others with an interest in researching LGBTQ welfare and social policy issues
• Membership of this informal network would be confidential and members would collaborate to develop a confidentiality policy for all to adhere to. For this reason the network will initially be for people who self-identify as LGBTQ within the Social Policy Association and would look to expand to Allies within the SPA in future.
If you are interested in being involved with or kept informed about the development of the network please email [log in to unmask]
