As part of BIG's role in promoting excellence in science communication we are pleased to announce our latest skills day.
HOW TO DEVELOP A TRAINING SESSION
Wednesday 17th October, 2018 - 9.30-4.00pm
ThinkTank, Birmingham
Would you like to share your skills and knowledge with others? Have you delivered training sessions before but need some help with developing your own? This skills day is focused on how to develop a training session.
This day will cover:
How to create an inclusive learning environment
Learning styles and different ways to engage learners
How to get started on developing your own training session
Who is the day for?
This Skills Day is for anyone who has never delivered training or who has limited experience of delivering training. The goals of the day are to help you understand what makes a great learning experience and how to develop effective training sessions. Very little previous experience is needed for you to get something out of the day. But please note, this Skills Day is only able to provide an introduction to training and probably isn't suitable for people who have lots of experience or have previously completed a Train the Trainer course.
This day will be led by Sarah Cosgriff, a science communicator and trainer. She has five years of experience of delivering and developing training and has trained a wide variety of people such as science communicators, STEM Ambassadors, teachers and young people. As well as delivering science communication training, she has also delivered youth work and software training.
Costs - £45 for BIG members including lunch and coffee
