The point is BBC R3 and the pressure on it to dumb down, which Patrick
regards as an improvement it seems. It's not curmudgeonly to be concerned
about that. It's symptomatic of the same trends in our culture which bring
professional know-nothings to political power. I don't appreciate being
compared to Larkin. The slur ad hominem does not prove a point.
