A Postdoc position is available (initially for 1 1/2 years) for studying high-resolution spectroscopy, photo-absorption and dissociation of carbon-based radicals. These radicals are generated in supersonically expanding plasma. Detection is done with cavity ring-down laser spectroscopy, multi-photon ionization and laser-induced fluorescence. The plasma setup including lasers, calibration facilities and detection setup are available and ready for data acquisition.
The candidate is expected to hold a PhD degree in physics, chemistry or a related field. Experience with lasers and experimental high-resolution spectroscopy and spectral analysis, is a requirement.
Appointment
The PostDoc will be appointed at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and carry out his/her work in the laser-oriented environment of LaserLaB Amsterdam (http://www.laserlab.vu.nl/), which is part of the European network of collaborating Laser Centres in Laserlab-Europe (https://www.laserlab-europe.eu/). The project is funded within the framework of the Dutch Astrochemistry Network (https://www.nwo.nl/en/news-and-events/news/2017/ew/nwo-funding-for-12-astrochemistry-projects.html).
Salary is in scale 10 for scientific employees in the Netherlands.
Please forward to suitable candidates. See also flyer: http://www.nat.vu.nl/~wimu/Positions/PostDoc-carbon-radicals.pdf
