Hi Hannah
I have to be careful what I say due to some commercial confidentiality, however, this is starting to happen in some areas. Some LA's seeking to promote land in their local plans or site allocations are undertaking PRA and in some cases Site Investigation to go alongside the promotion.
This allows developers to have a better picture of the risk associated with the brownfield site.
I suspect this funding might allow those LA's to go that step further and possibly remediate the site, or at least contribute to remediation costs? Some sites being allocated are still in use and occupied of course, so SI and remediation are not always practical.
Without Government funding, however, I don't think LA's will be able to do this on their own unless they can recoup the money from the eventual land sale?
All food for thought on a Friday.
