The National Gallery is seeking to appoint an Archive Assistant (Graduate Trainee) to assist in the operations of the Research Centre with a particular focus on invigilating external researchers and responding to enquiries. In addition the post-holder may be called upon to provide administrative support to the Archivist. The role will have a specific remit of helping Gallery departments prepare their records in anticipation of the move to the One Gallery Hub.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, and have some experience of working with archives. You will have excellent IT skills and a demonstrable interest in pursuing a career in archives and records management.
In this role you will need to be adaptable and to make routine decisions independently without constant supervision. You will also need good organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks and meet deadlines; a methodical approach with excellent attention to detail; good communication skills; and the ability to work effectively as part of a team with Research Centre colleagues.
