Job opportunity at The National Archives
Media Assistant
The National Archives is the official archive of the UK government, and England and Wales. We are a world-leading cultural heritage organisation which promotes public accessibility to iconic documents such as Guy Fawkes' confession, Shakespeare's Will and Edward VIII's letter of abdication, while ensuring preservation for generations to come. We programme exhibitions, talks, events and conferences which aim to introduce people to British history through the original records.
In this post, you will join the team responsible for proactive and reactive media relations and be required to work both independently and collaboratively to deliver the department's media objectives. You will be expected to develop an understanding of how The National Archives works as an organisation and to work flexibly to communicate the department's vision.
An interest in news, current affairs and British history is desirable. You are articulate and have excellent communication skills with the ability to grasp sometimes complex information and make it accessible for a range of audiences.
Join us here in beautiful Kew, just 10 minutes' walk from the Overground and Underground stations, and you can expect an excellent range of benefits. They include a pension, flexible working and childcare vouchers, as well as discounts with local businesses (e.g. beauty salons and bars). We also offer wellbeing resources (e.g. on-site therapists) and have an on-site gym, restaurant, shop and staff bar.
Closing date: 16th September 2018
Salary: £21,595
