My colleagues & I recently published the results of our survey of over 1000 anthropology professionals & grad students with regard to balancing family planning & the imperative to conduct fieldwork. Major findings:
1) most anthropologists & students come from educated households
2) white men are more likely to become tenured (still)
3) regardless of socioeconomic background, anthropologists reported significant lack of family-career balance & high stress associated with the profession
