2018 FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Department of Ethnology, College of Social Sciences

National Chengchi University, Taiwan

We are looking for scholars to join our dynamic faculty in an environment
that fosters critical learning, and promotes indigenous ways of knowing
through innovative research initiatives and curriculum developments. Our
university is especially interested in developing international research
projects and can offer generous support for viable research programs and
student-focused study abroad opportunities.



Department of Ethnology

The Department welcomes applications for the position of
Assistant/Associate Professor with specialization in Ethnology,
Anthropology, or related fields in the Humanities and Social Sciences. We
are especially interested in:

1.     Studies on Taiwanese Indigenous Peoples

2.     Studies on Chinese Ethnic minorities

3.     Migration Studies (Including cross-border ethnic groups, urban
minorities )

4.     Studies on Ethnic Groups in Southeast Asia or the Pacific Region



Qualifications: The applicant must have completed a Ph.D. or hold
qualifications to act as Assistant Professor in Ethnology, Anthropology or
a closely related field.

Position start date: February 1, 2019

1. Curriculum vitae (including educational background, skills, research
field, list of research publications).

2. Proof of Academic Certification

(1)Please provide copy of a teaching certificate issued by Ministry of
Education if available.

(2) Foreign academic credentials must be confirmed by Ministry of Foreign
Affairs’ overseas embassies before full employment.

3. The academic transcripts of highest educational degree (not required for
Associate Professor position)

4. Copies of all articles/book chapters published within the last 7 years.
(For assistant professor applicants, a doctoral dissertation can be
included as a publication). Of the submitted publications, the applicant
should select one—based on research conducted in the past 5 years—to submit
as their representative piece.

5. Syllabi for three courses. Two of the three courses should be taken from
the list below:

“Ethnography of Taiwan”

“The Theory of Ethnology” (undergraduate level)

“Economic Ethnology” (undergraduate level)

At least one course must be taught in English through the International
Doctoral Program in Asia-Pacific Studies (IDAS), the International Masters’
Program in Asia-Pacific Studies (IMAS), or the International Masters’
Program of Applied Economics and Social Development (IMES) collaborative
courses in the College of Social Sciences. (
