Data Processing Systems Engineers, EUMETSAT, Darmstadt, Germany
Do you want to use your expertise in engineering of data processing systems for the benefit of essential meteorological services in Europe and globally? If so, then EUMETSAT is the place to be!
Bring your proven engineering experience to support the full development lifecycle of our operational data processing systems. You will be involved in defining and maintaining requirements and specifications for our existing and future systems, defining appropriate monitoring tools. You will co-ordinate the integration of specific components into our systems, identifying methods to inspect the integrity of these changes. You will contribute to our procurement strategy and help to set up and implement maintenance contracts, policies and procedures, often with external providers. Your insights will contribute to the definition of our long term plans, identifying ways to harmonise engineering, maintenance and evolutions of all the data processing systems which exploit satellite data on behalf of EUMETSAT
We are looking for someone who has experience of the full development lifecycle and the relevant industry standards. You need to be competent in system verification and validation techniques. Our data processing systems are complex so you will need to be able to use your analytical and planning skills, often working independently in a matrix environment, balancing your priorities and resources with your sound organisational abilities. You must enjoy working in a team and be able to communicate complex information effectively. Experience of leading engineering teams or managing industry contracts would be an advantage.
