Dear All,
Two fully funded 4 year full-time PhD studentship have arisen in my group at the Hamilton Institute, Maynooth University (Kildare, Ireland) for EU ONLY students. The PhD studentships comprise a tax-free stipend of EUR18.5k per year, a computing budget, and a generous travel allowance.
PhD 1 is in the area of 'Drone Analytics for Environmental Monitoring'. The research programme will involve analysing ground truth, drone and satellite data for monitoring various environmental variables in Dublin bay. The successful student will develop methodology in the areas of Bayesian statistics, spatial modelling, intelligent sensors, and multivariate analysis.
PhD 2 is in the area of ‘Real time Analytics for manufacturing’ funded as part of the new I-Form centre for Advanced Manufacturing. The successful student will develop methodology for analysing real-time multivariate sensor output from machines such as 3D printers. This will likely involve times series analysis, recurrent neural networks, closed loop control theory, and anomaly detection techniques.
For both projects applicants should have a thorough grounding in statistics (or a similar subject area) and R or Python.
