This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team of statisticians, informaticians and other quantitative scientists developing novel methodology and applications in the field of mental health. The postholder will work primarily with Professor Andrew Pickles and Professor Richard Emsley in the Department of Biostatistics and Health Informatics at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience.
In addition to applied analysis and reporting, this post is intended to bring selected promising methodology into wider use through the provision of user tools, programmes and packaging. This will require a good understanding of statistical methodology and an interest and skills in programming. Training can be provided for candidates who show potential but lack key skills.
The successful candidate will have a degree level qualification in statistics, epidemiology or psychology with a substantial data-analysis content. Experience of applied psychological health research is essential as is programming skills in software packages such as STATA and/or R. They will be motivated and self-disciplined with a willingness to learn new methods.
The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £37,412 - £40,568 inclusive of London Allowance.
This post is fixed-term for 1 year and is a full-time post.
The selection process will take the form of presentation and a panel-based interview. Interviews will be held the afternoon of Thursday 4th October.
