We are seeking a Medical Statistician to join the Centre for Statistics in
Medicine (CSM), at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology
and Musculoskeletal Sciences, located at the Botnar Research Centre,
Oxford. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to design, conduct,
analysis and presentation of results at a leading centre for collaborative
statistical support in clinical research projects.
As a Medical Statistician you will provide statistical support to trials
and studies, interacting directly with researchers to help maintain the
scientific quality and integrity of projects and ensure their timely
completion. You will advise on study design, undertake data analysis and
will participate in methodological research. You will also produce
publications for peer review, contribute to teaching of medical statistics
and assist with the development and training of junior staff.
You will have a postgraduate degree in statistics (or closely related
subject), a substantial part of which relates to medical statistics, or
equivalent experience. You will have specialist knowledge in all aspects of
designing, running and analysing clinical trials. Proficient knowledge of
statistical software (Stata, SAS or R) as well as good verbal and written
communication skills are also essential. Substantial medical statistics
experience, supported by publication record and experience of producing
statistical reports and contributing to peer review publications is
desirable.
This is a full-time post for 2 years in the first instance.
A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6: £28,660 - £34,189 p.a.) with
commensurate reduction in responsibilities if a suitable candidate cannot
be found to fill the Grade 7 position.
