Job Purpose
To expand the reach of the School’s international research portfolio, and contribute to knowledge exchange activities relative to disability studies, contribute to learning and teaching on agreed programmes and undertake administration and service activities in line with the School/College’s strategic objectives.
The School of Social & Political Sciences is seeking to appoint a Lecturer whose work focuses on disability studies and disability related research, particularly in the Global South. We would especially welcome applicants whose research explores the impact of disability, on disability as a central factor in forms of social inequality, on migration and/or the provision of health and social care for disabled people. We would welcome applications from those who: i) have significant research experience in disability in the global South or with people from the Global South; ii) have carried out participatory research and, iii) have the capacity to develop and sustain international research collaborations.
The appointee will: undertake high-quality research and knowledge exchange activities in relation to disability studies; make a substantial contribution to learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and undertake administrative and management duties as required by the Head of School and/or Head of Subject. For appointment at Grade 8, a substantial contribution will include leading high quality research activities and delivering, organising and reviewing key areas of teaching and learning within the School.
Standard Terms & Conditions
Salary will be on the University’s Research and Teaching Grade, level 7/8, £35,210 - £39,610/ £43,266- £50,132 per annum.
New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.
The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities' Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.
All research and related activities, including grants, donations, clinical trials, contract research, consultancy and commercialisation are required to be managed through the University’s relevant processes (e.g. contractual and financial), in accordance with the University Court’s policies.
