Dear All,

Please could you bring this to the attention of any UK-based PhD students in statistics or health research with a strong quantitative component, who are in the second half of their PhD studies or have recently completed their PhD within a year.

CONFERENCE OPPORTUNITY FOR PHD STUDENTS
The Quantitative Sciences division at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is inviting a limited number of UK-based PhD students to attend and present a poster at an internal one-day conference on Monday 1st October 2018 at the Hilton London Paddington. The conference will consist of plenary and parallel sessions. Posters highlighting recent work and issues relating to pharmaceutical statistics and quantitative health research will be displayed throughout the day and there will be dedicated poster sessions. We expect around 150 GSK employees to attend with representation from clinical statistics, real-world evidence and epidemiology, and clinical pharmacology and modelling.

WHAT IS ON OFFER
* An opportunity to learn more about career opportunities at GSK
* Invitation to meet statisticians and other quantitative scientists working at GSK in a variety of roles
* Attendance at the one-day conference with the opportunity to contribute a poster of your own PhD work, or of work relevant to a quantitative, pharmaceutical audience
* Reimbursement of UK travel expenses

WHO SHOULD APPLY
Applicants should be in the second half of their PhD, or have completed their PhD in the last 12 months prior to the conference date. They should be interested in learning about opportunities within a large pharmaceutical company, and prepared to present a poster at the conference.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Please respond by Friday 24th August 2018 via e-mail to Jamie Rees, at [log in to unmask]

Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 31st August 2018.

Please include the following details:
* Your thesis title with a half-page synopsis of your PhD
* The estimated completion date, or completed date, of your PhD
* A half-page abstract of your proposed poster for display at the conference
* Your reason(s) for wishing to attend the conference
* Your university and supervisor's name

With best wishes,
Jamie Rees
