Centre for Statistics In Medicine Lead Statistician (135621)
Grade 10: Salary in the range of £53,691 - £62,219 per annum
Applications are invited for the position of a Lead Statistician to join the Centre for Statistics in Medicine (CSM) at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), Oxford. CSM is committed to providing collaborative statistical support for the design, analysis and reporting of clinical research, carries out a methodological research programme and runs training courses.
As a Lead Statistician you will provide effective leadership and management by promoting and supporting development of statisticians through mentorship, training and education, you will initiate and implement long-term, often interdisciplinary research programmes as well as manage substantial research resources and budgets. You will lead the integration of the Centre for Statistics in Medicines with other departments across the University by heading statistical collaborations, exchanges, internships and student placements and you will provide statistical leadership and oversight for a portfolio of studies within the Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (which is a full registered UKCRC unit within the Centre for Statistics in Medicine).
You will hold a PhD or equivalent in statistics, medical statistics, or other relevant discipline. Experience of managing statistical projects and collaborations as well as substantial experience of clinical trials are essential. Extensive experience of using standard statistical packages, such as STATA, R and SAS and experience of working with complex data sets as well as excellent communication skills with the ability to work well with colleagues, build networks and attract external funding are also essential. Substantial experience of early phase trials, previous experience of trials using adaptive designs and previous supervision of PhD and/or MSc are desirable.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 5 years.
A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 9: £46,336 - £53,691 p.a.) with commensurate reduction in responsibilities
