Dear all,
Open to anyone 18 plus with an interest in archive work, we have an opportunity for a volunteer(s) to help catalogue the Institution of Automobile Engineers (IAE) archive. You will gain experience of writing archival descriptions, handling records, writing authority records and using DS Calm - you will be supervised by me. The IAE archive is currently not catalogued, I am cataloging it this year and you will be working on a series of the collection, the membership records. The records include letters/forms etc.
We are flexible on your working pattern (how long the task takes depends on the hours you could do each week), within office hours 9.30-4.30 Mon-Fri.
We will be offering help with travel costs up to a value of £8 per day (this covers 2 zone 1-4 contactless/oyster trips on peak). The work is based at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1 Birdcage Walk, London, SW1H 9JJ (zone 1).
If you would like to chat about what is involved please email me at [log in to unmask] or call 020 7973 1265 and ask for Karyn French; you'd be welcome to visit and talk it over before committing. NB I am away w/c 13th Aug.
Regards,
Karyn
