methods@manchester are delighted to announce two exciting Quantitative Evaluation workshops at the University of Manchester. Both workshops are suitable for a variety of levels and can be taken individually or together as a package. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity!
The aim of this package of training is to improve capacity for conducting valid and robust
evaluations to capture public, stakeholder and policy engagement outcomes and impacts.
Workshop 1: Introduction to Quantitative Evaluation
09:00 - 12:45
This workshop features practical exercises that will help participants develop their own initial quantitative evaluation plans and addresses the following:
* Why use quantitative evaluation methods?
* How to develop measurable objectives to underpin quantitative evaluation design.
* What does quantitative evaluation evidence of impact look like?
* What are the tools available for conducting quantitative evaluation?
* How can you ensure you have a representative sample?
* What does 'good' and 'bad' quantitative evaluation look like?
* Common quantitative evaluation pitfalls, and how to avoid them.
Workshop 2: Introduction to Survey Design for Evaluation
13:15 - 17:00
This workshop provides top tips and guidance on developing an evaluation survey that is robust. This will include helping participants identify and avoid common pitfalls in impact evaluation survey design. Participants will also have the opportunity to develop their own survey questions with feedback and support during the workshop.
Course Leader
The training will be led by Dr Eric Jensen, Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Warwick. Dr Jensen is a world-leading expert in evaluation of public engagement and informal learning impact and quality of experience. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Cambridge (UK) and teaches social research methods at the University of Warwick.
Dr Jensen has extensive experience designing and conducting quantitative and mixed methods evaluations at institutions including the National Gallery, London Zoo, Natural History Museum and The University of Cambridge.
