This was from Mac OS X using RealVNC Viewer. That VNC Viewer is 6.0.0
(Oct 2016), It also exhibits this behavior using Windows 7 (I
believe) and RealVNC Viewer, probably of the same or newer vintage.
VNC server version is
Xvnc TigerVNC 1.6.0 - built Dec 24 2015 16:05:46
