Dear all,
I hope people are finding the FQ and Race discussion invigorating—Kim and I sure are! We will be editing a special issue of Spenser Studies on “Spenser and Race.” We hope that the conversations that have begun, and which we hope will continue over the next few weeks, might spark ideas for essays. We are open to considering essays on race in any of Spenser’s works, but especially in works other than The Faerie Queene. We also hope to include essays that look at race in works by other 16th-century English poets, and essays that take a comparatist prospective--e.g., Spenser’s inheritance of racial concepts from classical, medieval, or continental writers.
If you are interested in contributing to the volume, please send Kim ([log in to unmask]) and I ([log in to unmask]) a 300-500-word abstract by Aug 30. We will ask authors to submit their completed essays by August 2019.
Please feel free to contact us if you have questions.
All best regards,
Dennis (and Kim)
