Subject: [PSCI-COM] Widening participation project seeking London venue 24 or 25 July
Dear colleagues
Apologies for the mass email. Wondering if you could help one of our members, Victory Idowu, who runs a science and engineering focused widening participation project called Brilliant Aspirations - https://www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk/voting/project/view/17-6457
Brilliant Aspirations is a project that works with 15 - 18 year olds from non-traditional backgrounds in London. Victory and her brother run the project voluntarily on a very low budget, and provide the students with enrichment activities on topics including physics, mathematics, statistics, networking, working in business, going to university etc. (Victory is a statistician and her brother is an engineer, hence the physics and maths focus.)
They're looking for a donation of a venue (and ideally some basic catering such as tea and coffee) for the end of project event on the evening of 26 or 27 July in Central London. We hosted last year but can't this year due to building work. Last year there was a gathering of some 20-30 parents, guardians and students, with presentations about what they had done during the week. I really enjoyed meeting the students and their families last year and regret that I cannot host this year.
If you think you might be able to help, let me know at [log in to unmask] and I can put you in touch.
With best wishes
Scott
