Dear All,
This could be a quest too quixotic even for this group--but it has never failed me on all sorts of sometimes bizarre equipment questions. I'm checking the possibility of operating an old XL-401 on hand as a CO2 laser. Though it hasn't been used for years--these lasers date from the early to mid 1980s--we have many, but not all, of the board schematics; there don't seem to be any insurmountable problems there. The major problem is that a curious individual, armed with a screwdriver, did some internal disassembly, especially affecting HV connections in and around the laser head. It's not 100% clear how to restore all connections properly, with not enough documentation available to cover these points.
While I would be surprised if anyone still had an operating example, there still might be one in deep storage somewhere. If so, it would be invaluable to have some photographs of internal HV connections. Perhaps we'd be interested in buying the example for parts, but photographs would be the main thing.
Cheers
