Well, it might be Jubal, chosen to represent a particular musical mode. But the manuscript's (Harley 4951's) two other depictions of musicians, each also playing a particular instrument and said to represent a particular musical mode, raise doubts:

Though the harper (fol. 295v) is said in his catalogue description to be "possibly David", he's hardly costumed regally. Indeed, the varied hose of all three musicians suggests rather that they are to be viewed as generic minstrels. And the bellringer's also varied sleeves make him truly pied. Is Jubal ordinarily so represented?
Best,
John Dillon

Michael Camille has things to say in various publications about the sexual innuendo involved in bell-ringing then and now (as in 'you can ring my bell..' 'I want you to play with my ding-a-ling'). I suspect that's where the rabbits come in, and all sorts of other creatures, but also- possibly- the nuns if you buy into his arguments about marginal illustrations. Somewhere he illustrates a rather racy bell-ringing monk, if I recall. For some non-marginal images which seem to me without any such possible connotations, you might seek out various images of Jubal

Can anyone guide me to pictures of ringing before c1550?
I have three pictures: one from the British Library of nuns processing with one ringing two bells. The other two are of rabbits ringing; one in a similar manner to the nun, the other using two mallets to bash a most odd-shaped bell in a manner calculated to crack it.
I have no objection to pictures of rabbits, and in no way underestimate their intelligence, but I would prefer pictures of humans ringing. (Incidentally, why are rabbits portrayed thus?)
Thank you
Anne
