Medical Statistician - Population Biobank Studies

Grade 7: £31,604 - £38,833 p.a. (pro rata for part-time)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly-motivated and talented postdoctoral medical statistician to join a research group focussing on the aetiology of cardiovascular diseases and diseases of old age using population and vascular trials biobank studies with genetic data and linkage to electronic health data. The very large-scale data that are emerging provide the opportunity for many exciting and extensive investigations requiring well-structured data manipulation and statistical programming to yield their full potential. We are seeking to recruit a medical statistician with excellent programming skills and a good understanding of a range of statistical techniques. The post will involve planning data synthesis, implementing statistical analyses and interpreting the implications for population health.
You will have a PhD (or MSc plus additional relevant experience) in statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics or an equivalent numerate or computational discipline, a demonstrated record in statistical programming and analysis (for example in SAS, R) and be competent to develop your skills further.
The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) contains world-renowned population health research groups. This post provides an excellent opportunity for training and development of expertise in medical statistics and statistical programming within a leading multi-disciplinary academic unit with an unrivalled reputation for promoting the use of 'big data' to reliably identify findings important to population health.
The post is full-time (part-time considered) and is fixed-term for 3 years in the first instance.
