Grade 8 Senior Medical Statistician / Epidemiologist
Full-Time (Part-Time will be considered)
Starting salary £39,993 to £47,722 (with potential progression to £53,690 once in post)
We are looking to appoint an experienced Clinical Trials Statistician / Epidemiologist to join the Global Surgery Unit at the University of Birmingham. The post will be based within the Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit (BCTU).
This post provides an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development and evaluation of research into global surgical practice. The post holder will provide methodological/ statistical advice and support for clinical trials, observational studies and systematic reviews in the area of surgery in low and middle income countries within the National Institute for Health Research funded Global Surgery Unit.
The Global Surgery Unit is being led at the Russell Group University of Birmingham by Professor Peter Brocklehurst and Professor Dion Morton. It is a collaboration across three Universities (Birmingham, Edinburgh and Warwick), which aims to build capacity and develop research in hubs around the world (currently West Africa, South Africa, Central & East Africa, Central America and South Asia) with an overall aim to improve global surgical practice.
BCTU is a leading national UKCRC clinical trials unit. Established in 1997, BCTU has evolved into one of the largest and most effective clinical trials units in the UK specialising in the design, conduct and analysis of definitive clinical trials and test evaluation studies, as well as methodological research, under the directorship of Professor Peter Brocklehurst.
