Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to invite you to what is probably Europe's largest meeting of scholars and practitioners in Responsible Research and Innovation, namely our 4th International NUCLEUS Conference (http://nucleus-project.eu/), this year under the motto of "Living RRI: opening research to the needs and values of society", 11-12 October 2018.
Three keynotes, 8 parallel workshops and several interactive sessions are part of the programme that offers you a rich and engaging experience, in the beautiful setting of Valletta, in Malta.
We are in the third phase of our project, which has seen the embedding of Responsible Research and Innovation into institutions on three continents. At the heart of our project are the 10 universities that act as "test beds" for making RRI an everyday part of the governance and practice of research institutions. From Europe, China and South Africa these institutions, or Nuclei, as we call them, will bring their insights into the practical implementation of RRI. These experiences, combined with invited contributions from other RRI projects and relevant stakeholders linked to Open Science, will make this conference a unique opportunity for networking, getting new ideas and learning from practitioners.
We are honoured to have as keynote speakers:
Giulia Bubbolini, from the Center for Innovation and Sustainable Economy in Italy, sharing her vast experience in policy making and entrepreneurship;
Paul Manners, director of the National Centre for Coordination of Public Engagement in the UK presenting insights into meaningful collaborations.
Maria Acaso, bringing creative visions from the arts as a disruptive intervention into how we think about education and governance.
The event will be moderated by Bernie Quillinan, leader of Participatory Research at the University of Limerick.
I invite you to check our programme and browse our Conference page. Free registration is now open!
