Funding:
The summer school is supported financially by the British Academy Newton Advanced Fellowship “Dealing Ethically with Conflicts between Deep Commitments: A Dual Critical-Hermeneutic Account” and by the European Consortium for Political Research. We will be able to offer heavily subsidized accommodation and participation, as well as free breakfast and lunch to the participants during the Summer School. Depending on costs and the funding available, we plan to cover all expenses, making for instance available funding for the travel expenses as well, but two travel grants (of €250 each) are already available from the ECPR.
Conditions of eligibility for the ECPR Travel Grant:
1. Be from an ECPR member institution who have paid their annual membership fee (you can check to see if your institution is a paid member here: http://ecprnet.eu/Membership/CurrentMembers.aspx);
2. Not be receiving any other funding for travel to attend the Summer School; i.e. must be self-funded;
3. Be subject to adequate academic performance during the Summer School, as assessed by the Summer School organisers.
Eligible delegates must also be able to produce the relevant documentation related to their expenses (i.e. boarding passes/train tickets etc.). Please let us know as soon as possible whether you would like to apply for an ECPR travel grant.
Further Information:
Any inquiries concerning the summer school can be sent to the Summer School Convenor, Ruhi Demiray ([log in to unmask]).
The ECPR Kantian Standing Group organise a series of summer schools on methods in normative political theory/philosophy. Previous schools were organised in 2014 (Keele), 2015 (Keele – organised jointly with the Political Theory Standing Group) and 2016 (Limerick – organised jointly with the Political Theory Standing Group). This year the summer school will take place at the University of Siegen, and will be organised by the University of Siegen in cooperation with Keele University under the aegis of the ECPR and the BA Newton Advanced Fellowship “Dealing Ethically with Conflicts between Deep Commitments”.
The School gives 15 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers working in the field of moral, legal and political theory/philosophy a unique opportunity to exchange research and teaching ideas with colleagues from other universities and research institutes.
