IDEAL Study Masterclasses in Dementia Research
The Improving the experience of Dementia and Enhancing Active Life (IDEAL) study is pleased to announce the launch of two online masterclasses in dementia research. These masterclasses are freely available online at: www.idealproject.org.uk/mclass/<http://www.idealproject.org.uk/mclass/>
Doing qualitative interviews with people with dementia and their carers/relatives: Tips, strategies and considerations
In this masterclass, Dr Catherine Quinn from the University of Exeter and Dr Alex Hillman from Cardiff University focus on conducting qualitative interviews with people with dementia and their carers or relatives. The masterclass provides tips on preparing for the interview and developing an interview protocol. It discusses useful strategies that can be used during the interview and also provides some guidance on interpreting interviews.
Involving people with dementia and carers in research: Recommendations from the Action on Living Well: asking you (ALWAYs) group
In this masterclass, Rachael Litherland from Innovations in Dementia is joined by Keith Oliver, a member of the IDEAL study public and patient involvement (PPI) group ALWAYs, Dr Catherine Quinn from the University of Exeter and Dr Alex Hillman from Cardiff University to discuss PPI in research. They reflect on the value of PPI in research from the perspective of both advisory group members and the researcher. The masterclass contains recommendations for good practice when planning or using PPI in research.
