GIS Officer
Salary: £22-24,500
Location: West Wales
We are looking for a highly motivated GIS and data problem solver with a strong desire to produce optimal results. They will have the knowledge, skills, experience and personal qualities outlined in the attached person specification and be part of a small dedicated team working to improve the exchange of biological information within the West Wales area and throughout Wales.
WWBIC is a not for profit company, one of the four Local Environmental Records Centres in Wales. We provide reports and other data products and services to inform decisions taken at a local and national level where biodiversity must be taken into account. We work with the other records centres as a consortium, LERC Wales, to combine our data for national partners.
The post requires a person who can work with and adapt our current systems and processes and play a key role in developing these into the best possible biodiversity information service for our region and Wales. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, the ability to work under their own initiative, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to consistently work to a very high standard and degree of accuracy. They will also be able to demonstrate a personal commitment to biodiversity conservation, and will thrive on the challenges offered.
