Dear friends and colleagues,

please pass on the job description below to your best finishing PhDs and
Postdocs.

Best wishes and thanks in advance for this,

Mark Handy

FREIE UNIVERSITÄT BERLIN

The Department of Earth Science is advertising a Post-Doc Position (4-6
years) in Tectonics & Low-Temperature Thermochronology

We seek a young scientist who will pursue independent research on faulting
and thermal evolution of the continental lithosphere. This will combine
analysis of fault rocks, metamorphic rocks and sedimentary basins with
low-temperature thermochronology, especially fission-track analysis, aimed
at constraining the age and rates of faulting in orogenic environments.
The successful candidate will participate in existing projects within the
tectonics, sedimentology groups and petrology groups, as well as apply for
research funds. Teaching responsibilities include four hours of lecturing
per week (in German and English) during semesters and supervising BSc and
MSc students in the field and laboratory. Candidates will have a doctor’s
degree (PhD) in Earth Science, preferably also with post-doctoral
experience.

Further information about the position, as well as research activities and
analytical facilities within the department is available on our website
(http://www.geo.fu-berlin.de/en/geol/fachrichtungen/geologie/tectonicsgroup/index.html)or
by contacting Mark R. Handy (Tel. +49-(0)30-838-70311, Email:
[log in to unmask]). Applications should include a letter of intent
specifying career goals and research interests, a curriculum vitae with at
least 2 references, a list of publications, and proof of attendance at
academic institutions (transcripts, awarded degrees, etc.). Applications
should arrive either as PDF or by normal mail by the 16th of July, 2018 at
the Freie Universitaet Berlin, Fachbereich Geowissenschaften, c/o Prof.
Dr. Mark R. Handy, Malteser-Straße 74-100, Haus B, D-12249 Berlin.
