The Museum and Archives team are seeking an assistant archivist to contribute to the day to day running of the London Borough of Croydon archive and to support the wide range of internal and community based projects that are undertaken at Croydon Clocktower
You will work alongside the Borough Archivist to manage enquiries from staff and members of the public and to retrieve items from our purpose built store for researchers to view in our Research room. The team of Museum and archives professionals work closely alongside each other in areas such as environmental monitoring, exhibition interpretation and outreach activities.
The London Borough of Croydon Archives achieved archives accreditation in March 2017 and you will ensure that this standard is maintained and developed in the future. We launched an online catalogue in November 2015 and this role will continue the work towards making all our collections available online.
Our small team of dedicated staff are supported by our Front of house volunteer team who you will work with to improve their knowledge of our collections and increase access to all.
This is an opportunity for a newly qualified professional to gain a wide range of experience across both Museum and Archives collections.
The appointment will be initially for a 6 month period. Full time Tuesday to Saturday to provide cover in public areas during opening hours.
Closing date for applications is Friday 13 July 2018
