Subject: AC2018 SSQRG Guest Nominations
Dear AC2018 SSQRG session organisers,
To encourage participation in the 2018 RGS-IBG Annual International Conference from non-geographers based in the UK, and from both geographers and non-geographers from overseas who may have difficulties in paying their registration fee, the Space, Sexualities and Queer Research Group (SSQRG) is entitled to request complimentary registration totalling six days for Research Group guests.
The SSQRG is usually oversubscribed for guest registrations and will need to strictly keep to the limit of six days. For reasons of fairness, the SSQRG prefers nominations for one-day passes (e.g., six guests each attending for one day) divided up proportionally over SSQRG-sponsored sessions. No part days are allowed. Guests who are nominated for one-day registrations have the option of upgrading their registration to three days at a concessionary rate in liaison with the RGS-IBG. Neither the conference nor the SSQRG will pay for any other associated costs of delegate attendance in full or part, e.g. travel, accommodation, workshops, conference buffet.
Full information on nominating delegates for Research Group guest passes can be retrieved from the Research Groups section of the RGS-IBG website at https://www.rgs.org/research/research-groups/research-groups-at-annual-conference/ Pleased be advised about two key documents:
1) Criteria and process for making nominations for places at the 2018 RGS-IBG Annual International Conference:
https://www.rgs.org/getattachment/Research/Research-groups/Research-Groups-at-Annual-Conference/AC2018-Research-Group-Guest-Criteria.pdf?lang=en-GB
2) Research Group Guest Application Form:
https://www.rgs.org/getattachment/Research/Research-groups/Research-Groups-at-Annual-Conference/AC2018-Research-Group-Guest-Application-Form.doc?lang=en-GB
Eligibility criteria apply for all invited guests. Criteria should be checked carefully before submitting a request for guest registration. Applications for guests may only be formally submitted by the SSQRG. Applications made by individuals or session organisers will therefore not be considered. So, please do not send application documents to the RGS-IBG directly.
Each session organiser should send a completed application form for each nominee, and a ranking should be provided if more than one nomination is made. SSQRG will rank the applications. RGS-IBG's Head of Research and Higher Education will make the final decision on guest passes, expected to be conveyed by the end of early-bird registration on 8 June 2018 https://www.rgs.org/research/annual-international-conference/registration/ Any adjustments will be made if any registration costs have already been incurred. Although a significant portion of the conference budget is committed to supporting guest attendance, please note that guest registrations are usually in excess of available supply and some delegates will inevitably miss out.
Please submit the application for guest nominations to the SSQRG Chair Dr Martin Zebracki at [log in to unmask] by 21 May 2018 5PM GMT.
