Hi Georgina,
Osmond Ergonomics give some advice about handheld devices, see attached. I'm not aware of any HSE guidance.

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] DSE - Tablets/Smartphones
----------------------------- PHISHING ALERT -----------------------------
This email has been sent from an account outside of the BAE Systems network.
Is it from someone you already know? Is the email business related and in
context with your job role?
If not it could be a phishing email. If it is asking you to click on a link or open
an attachment it could be particularly dangerous.
Don't get hooked, it could result in your machine or the wider network
becoming infected.
Follow the 'Report Suspicious Emails' link on IT matters for instructions on
reporting suspicious email messages.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In case I’ve missed it - is there any new guidance from the HSE on smart phone and tablet use? The web page refers to them but links you to the DSE regs that obviously makes zero reference as they were not available when it was written.
I have a outdoors workers working on a tablet for purposes of surveying (60% of time is standing looking down at it). DSE regs would suggest screen should be at eye level - but it’s not workable in this situation and we have multiple workers complaining of neck and lower back pain.
TIA,
G
