Senior CAD/BIM/GIS Manager - London

As a result of an internal transfer, we have an opportunity for a talented CAD/BIM/GIS manager to join our landscape team in London. This is a unique opportunity to grow the digital capability within the team within Arup building on Arup’s brand, project successes and existing client relationships and requires a charismatic manager who can communicate to a wide variety of audiences and has the ability to win and retain support for projects and initiatives.
We have a diverse workload of high profile projects across the UK and internationally, ranging in scale from environmental infrastructure design, major transportation projects through to restoration, town centre regeneration, streetscape design and green roofs.
The landscape architecture business has established (and developing) landscape architecture teams in Arup that are linked with through a global network, led from our London office, in Brisbane, Bristol, Cardiff, Hong Kong, Leeds, Newcastle, New York, Solihull and Sydney. Working across all CAD/BIM/GIS platforms, the digital team comprises 5 digital experts with design, technology, collaboration and integration at the heart of everything they do.
Role
You must be have the ability to manage a team of technicians and designers to ensure the delivery of models, drawings, datasets and maps of exceptional standard in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Rhino, Microstation, ArcGIS, Infraworks and Projectwise. Tool development and workflow analysis is also key to this role.
You will lead and develop the team to ensure they stay at the forefront of digital design in the landscape sphere and you will be tasked with ensuring each member is fully utilised, engaged and developing their skills to benefit the whole landscape business.
Networking both internally within Arup and externally is vital to our business and you would form part of this and expected to contribute. Landscape works in a collaborative manner and you are expected to contribute by sharing ideas, technical skills and enthusiasm.
Regular design reviews and planning charrettes are held and you are invited to attend, contribute and learn more about the work others are doing. We also have a training programme to meet individual development needs. These are usually agreed at the annual appraisal review but can be organised on an ‘as and when’ basis when needed.
Candidates should be team players and used to working in a multidisciplinary environment. Experience of working on landscape and infrastructure projects and for a consultancy will be advantageous.
Requirements and Skills
Strategic Business Direction
• Identifying and promoting the Landscape digital business, creating a distinct identity for our landscape team to positively distinguish Arup and create a unique market offer;
• Liaison with internal and external clients as well as working with other teams within the business;
• Inspire the digital team with a vision that is understood and communicated to all levels in the team;
• Ability to build support within teams and externally with client steering groups;
• Working with staff to ensure effective performance management and have ability to deal with poor performance (where it arises); and
• Contributing to the development of our Consulting, City and Landscape business strategy under the direction of the Regional Consulting leader and working closely with senior members of the environmental, transport and infrastructure teams.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
• Expert in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Rhino, Microstation, ArcGIS, Infraworks and Projectwise.
• High level of skill in FME, Dynamo, Grasshopper and AutoCAD scripting.
• Fully conversant in BIM methods and procedures and have a proven track record in responding to EIRs, authoring or contributing to BEPs and setting up delivery mechanisms to meet the clients BIM requirements.
• Demonstrable evidence of working as a digital manager;
• Experienced digital professional, with consultancy experience;
• Excellent written and spoken English; and
• Strong Team Member, who can work in project specific teams and who can help motivate and lead group effort and efficiently network across boundaries.
Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
• Specific sector experience in areas such as infrastructure, commercial development, urban regeneration, residential, education, health, energy, historic buildings and landscape planning strategic policy;
• Experience of coding in Python, VBA and SQL; and
• Proven Project Manager level technical and commercial management experience.
