Triad is working exclusively with one of our client to recruit a technically strong and adaptable GIS specialist to join a growing geospatial team working across environmental and engineering disciplines. The role will be extremely varied, encompassing basic cartography through to more complex spatial analyses, development of new processes/tools/capabilities and report/proposal writing. There is a strong culture of innovation and self-development within the team so there will be the opportunity to develop your skill set and influence the direction in which the role, as well as the wider team, progresses. The client offers a fantastic benefits package including flexible working and a salary from £40k-£45k for the right person. Ideally we are looking for 2-5 years’ experience in an engineering or environmental company. Excellent GIS skills are of course required,
Typical duties/responsibilities
Map production and analysis to support environmental and engineering projects
WebGIS deployment (currently using out of the box ESRI packages, custom Leaflet/OpenLayers solutions)
Onshore/offshore pipeline/cable routing studies
Geospatial/mapping support to geotechnical/geophysical/environmental survey development and management and processing large survey datasets
Workflow automation using Python, FME and Model Builder
Maintenance and management of project data / common data environment, including maintaining metadata standards
Running GIS data workshops to facilitate engineering design solutions
Managing projects, including resourcing and budget control
Building internal and external relationships and working as multidisciplinary teams is both leading and supporting roles
Identification of bids and proposal writing/coordination
Identification and development of new GIS products and services
Essential attributes/skills
Technical degree in a related field of study
Ideally two or more years' related work experience(or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
Creative-problem solving and appetite for innovation
Skilled in the use of desk and web-based GIS software - ideally ESRI stack and QGIS
Ability to design visually impressive and engaging materials
Knowledge of simple programming/automation, ideally proficient with Python, Model Builder or FME
Excellent written/spoken English skills and proven ability to produce high-quality reports and proposals
Willingness to teach/support other team members and develop capacity of team;
Effective communicator with ability to develop and maintain good working relationships and a willingness to engage and interact with a wide range of colleagues, external partners and stakeholders
Desirable attributes/skills
Competent Python programming, especially for workflow automation and tool development
Significant experience of using Model Builder and/or FME for workflow automation
Experience developing WebGIS projects
Database experience
Familiarity with AutoCAD software or working with CAD data
Knowledge of the marine energy sector / marine environment
