The Department of Modern Languages at the University of Birmingham are looking to appoint a full-time, permanent Lecturer/Senior Lecturer with a focus on German Studies. The Department welcomes applications from specialists in any relevant time period or geographical area. The Department will give consideration both to applicants who specialize in solely in German, and to those who research and teach German alongside one or more other language areas, providing that German is a major part of their work.
Preference may be given to candidates who work in one or more of the following areas, but consideration will be given to all outstanding candidates:
Translation and/or Interpreting
Comparative Linguistics
Interdisciplinary or comparative cultural study
Preference may likewise be given to candidates whose approach to research relates to one of the following, but consideration will be given to all outstanding candidates:
Linkages and/or comparisons between diverse times and/or places and/or media
Sexuality studies with particular regard to intersectional identities
Relationships (historical or contemporary) between technology and knowledge
