2-13 July 2018
Brussels, Belgium
There are still some places available. Apply now!
The Summer School has been designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the immigration and asylum policy of the EU from a legal perspective. All lectures are available both in English and French, and participants can choose which language to follow. On top of classes, evening debates and visits to the European Institutions, the course provides an excellent opportunity to spend an intellectually stimulating fortnight and to network among a group of around one hundred fellow participants specialised in the area of asylum and immigration.
About the programme available on our website, we draw your attention to:
- The opening lecture by Prof. Francesco Maiani about the burning issues of solidarity and asylum, followed by a panel of policymakers
- A debate on the interception of migrants at sea and the role of international courts, with a focus on the case of Italian cooperation with Libya before the ECtHR, chaired by Prof. Achilles Skordas
- An evening debate with Prof. Constança Urbano De Sousa, former Minister for Home Affairs of Portugal, who will tell you what happens when an academic becomes a Minister!
- Two debates on the annual report of the European Migration Network (EMN) on migration and of the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) on asylum
