We are looking for an innovative and qualified senior archivist to join our team at the Lincolnshire Archives as the Senior Collections Development Officer. This is a new post and the successful candidate will become the lead officer within the Archives Service.
A postgraduate qualification in Archives & Records Management is required.
You will be joining the Archives at an exciting time as we consider our future options for building a new archive. Acting as lead advocate for archives within the Collections team, you'll be responsible for inspiring and leading the archive collections team through change and exploring new ways to place communities, visitors and the archive collections at the centre of these developments.
As the lead officer in the Archives Service, you will be supported by a qualified Archivist and a team of 6 Assistants. There is also a separate team of 4 Assistants led by the Visitor Experience Manager, who are responsible for front-of-house duties and the day-to-day operation of Search Room facilities. You will deputise for the Collections Development Manager when needed, and collectively contribute to the effective management of museum collections held by the Lincolnshire Heritage Service.
Well-organised and with great communication skills, the successful candidate will hold a postgraduate qualification in Archives & Records Management. Key responsibilities of the position will include:
• Addressing a substantial archives cataloguing backlog through the initiation of volunteer projects;
• Leading the review of our collections in line with the TNA's De-accessioning and Disposal Toolkit;
• Lead work to ensure the service retains Archive Service Accreditation;
• Improving collections care;
• Implementing a solution for long-term digital preservation and access;
• Contributing to the creation of new and innovative ideas for archives development including engagement and outreach activities, giving talks, and developing exhibitions based on the collections;
• Organising the Repository staff rota; reprographics, and reproduction services;
• Refining and overseeing enquiry response procedures, and maintaining an excellent and consistent standard of customer service.
The Archive is part of Lincolnshire Heritage Service, which also manages six other heritage sites including Lincoln Castle and The Collection (Art & Archaeology) Museum, and is based a short walk from Lincoln City Centre with its own car park.

A postgraduate qualification in Archives & Records Management is required.
