Archives Manager
Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester
Are you passionate about promoting museum collections to diverse audiences?
At the Science Museum Group, we are committed to keeping our collections accessible, helping to grow the ‘science-capital’ of our visitors, colleagues and everyone who encounters them.
To act as a champion for our unique archives, we are looking for an Associate Archivist to join us at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester on a permanent basis, working 18 hours per week.
In this role, you will support our wider goal to maintain, manage and share the history of our collection. Joining a team that champions our world class archives, you will celebrate and mediate access for group visits, academics, special interest researchers and internal stakeholders. Using your collections management skills, you’ll ensure our collections remain relevant, significant and secure for researchers today and in the future.
Joining us, you will have or be working towards a recognised archive qualification or have significant experience of working or volunteering with archive collections. You will understand how to handle, manage and store historic archive material and will enhance the sharing of our archives, thinking of new processes to provide information which enriches the experience for our visitors.
You will be offered excellent benefits, including 24 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays, a contributory pension scheme, an annual season ticket loan and numerous staff discounts whilst developing your career in a world class museum group.
