Dear Colleagues
Please note the following extensions to deadlines for
The Annual Meeting of Teachers of Statistics in Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (“Burwalls”) 2018, which is scheduled to take place at the University of Edinburgh from Wednesday 20 - Friday 22 June 2018.
Abstract submission deadline: 5 pm on Friday 25 May 2018
Deadline for applicants to be notified of decisions for abstracts: Friday 1 June 2018
Registration closes: 5 pm on Monday 11 June
The standard registration fee has now been reduced from £275 to £250 to accommodate those registrants who have missed the Early Bird registration deadline.
**If you are considering attending, please don’t wait until the programme is finalized until you make a decision, as the programme cannot be finalized before June. Some very good abstracts have already come in, reflecting an interest in disseminating expertise in teaching practises that are not typically used in medical curricula. However, perhaps you can make a difference to this conference by offering your own unique contribution. Please consider submitting an abstract soon while there is still space in the programme.** Martin Bland, Emeritus Professor of Health Statistics, University of York (https://www.york.ac.uk/healthsciences/our-staff/emeritus/martin-bland/) is the after-dinner speaker for this conference.
For more details, please refer to the conference website (https://www.ed.ac.uk/usher/annual-meeting-teachers-of-medical-statistics-2018/welcome), where you will also find the above key dates and advice on how to register for the conference and book accommodation. There are no restrictions by country or discipline on who can participate. For example, not purely statisticians but also, clinicians, educationalists and philosophers with a theoretical or practical interest in the teaching of statistics in medicine or allied health sciences are encouraged to attend and submit an abstract. A range of proposals for abstract topics will also be considered at this stage.
This message will be circulated widely via a range of mailing lists so please excuse any duplication of messages sent to your inbox.
Feel free to circulate the message among colleagues who may also wish to participate.
I look forward to welcoming you to the conference and to Edinburgh!
Best wishes
Margaret MacDougall
