The answer is yes but it was preceeded by two even more well established
courses - see below
There has been a course in OH Nursing which conferred specialist status
going back to the 1930s - that was offered by the RCN and possibly validated
by the University of London. That morphed into the RCN validated OHNC (?? In
the 1960's) which in turn morphed into the ENB approved DOHN both were
recordable on what was then the UKCC register.
Those OHNs who had recorded their qualification automatically transferred
over to the NMC SCPHN register. The NMC standards for of proficiency for
SCPHNs were written in 2004 and these NMC approved courses were generally
available from 2005 onwards.
If you are interested in knowing more happy to provide further details "off
list". I think I am now the only OHN educator who has been the course
director for all the above courses other than the OHNC (that was the course
in OH Nursing which I studied).
