POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN BIOINFORMATICS EDUCATION

The School of Biological Sciences at the University of Edinburgh seeks a
Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our thriving bioinformatics
education and public engagement project, 4273pi (http://4273pi.org). The
successful applicant will have major responsibility within one of the
largest bioinformatics-for-schools projects in the world.
You will work with Dr Daniel Barker at the University of Edinburgh and
Professor Thomas Meagher at the University of St Andrews to implement
and expand a programme of bioinformatics education and public
engagement, with particular emphasis on the secondary school level. You
will coordinate, lead and develop workshops for school visits,
continuing professional development events for school teachers and
activities for engaging the general public.
The project is funded by the STFC grant "Byte-sized bioinformatics:
bringing computational biology to schools"

The position is part-time, at 28 hours per week. The position is
fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance, with the possibility of
extension, and should be taken up in July 2018 or soon after.
Salary will be pro-rata, i.e. GBP 26,038 - GBP 31,066 per annum for 28
hours per week (basic salary GBP 32,548 - GBP 38,833), depending on
experience.
