Hi Peter,
1) Both. Around 90% PC 10% Mac.
2) Final Cut Pro was ditched here when it went to version X. Staff
didn't like X and moved to Premiere. We were already paying for the
Adobe suite with the Adobe agreement.
3) File servers didn't manage well with more than about 5 people
editing. USB HDD's are attached (hidden with cable ties) to backs of
iMacs where they edit, and upload afterwards. Students encouraged to
have a portable HDD for edit. Some students use their unlimited Google
Drive space as backup.
There is a
https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A0=MAC-SUPPORTERS (for
people who have to support Mac's rather than fanbois) - and a discussion
about "Network homes" 16/03/2018 that is perhaps relevant too. As is the
current Apple wireless only keyboard and mouse problem :)
