Dear colleagues,
With this post I would like to introduce ‘IsoplotR’, which is a free toolbox for geo- and thermochronolgy that is aimed to be an alternative for the traditional MS Excel plugin ‘Isoplot’. Isoplot has been used by the geochronology community for decades but is no longer supported in newer Excel versions. In addition to the popular Isoplot functions for e.g. U-Pb, Pb-Pb, Ar-Ar and Rb-Sr dating, IsoplotR has also implemented functions for other chronological methods such as fission track and U-Th-He. There is no need for prior knowledge on the R language in which it was primarily coded and its graphical interface has been designed to be user friendly and flexible. The program can be downloaded to run in R or can also be used through an on-line interface. I would like to encourage you to have a try if you haven’t already done so. The program can be accessed here: isoplotr.london-geochron.com and the related paper to be cited is now published in the open-access journal Geoscience Frontiers: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1674987118300835.
Best regards
Stijn Glorie
