Dear colleagues
The School of Events, Tourism & Hospitality Management is seeking to appoint an ambitious and well-qualified academic to inspire and lead a team of more than 25 full-time scholars dedicated to teaching events management students and to researching associated subjects.
The School is a major provider of events, tourism and hospitality management education and research. It is organised into two subject groups, one of which is the UK Centre for Events Management (UKCEM), and we have an international research centre. The School's mission is to inspire and educate the events, tourism and hospitality leaders of tomorrow so that they can make a positive difference in the world.
The UKCEM is widely recognised among academics and practitioners for providing high quality academic programmes to approximately 500 students annually, ranging from undergraduates to those working towards PhDs. Our alumni network encompasses prominent figures in the industry, those currently making their mark as practitioners (a major trade magazine lists five of our recent graduates in their thirty most talented events managers under the age of thirty) and those who work in academia in many parts of the world.
We aspire to build on the existing reputation of UKCEM and to position it among the global leaders in the field. A key focus of the post will be to build on its tradition of embracing innovative approaches to teaching and learning, and strengthening its research and scholarly output.
Academic leadership and management experience in a relevant discipline is essential and a track record of research in events management is highly desirable. Suitably qualified candidates may, therefore, be eligible for a professorial title.
