Statistical consultants - University of Edinburgh, School of Mathematics
Following significant growth in the Statistics Group of the School of Mathematics we are establishing a new Statistical Consultancy Unit to deliver consultancy and bespoke Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities to a range of partners, within the University and externally. The opportunities here are considerable. As a large and world leading institution, the University engages in substantial and varied statistical activities across many disciplines, driven by the Centre for Statistics. We are also a hub for world leading excellence in Data Science, as reflected through the key roles that we are playing in the Edinburgh City Deal and the UK’s Alan Turing Institute. Externally there are significant opportunities for engagement with the public and private sectors across myriad different areas, such as finance and banking, biomedical sciences, information technology, and local and national government.
As part of the creation of the Unit we are seeking to recruit two Statistical Consultants who will develop and grow our consultancy and CPD activities.
We are looking for statisticians who are ambitious, flexible, conscientious and creative and who can work equally adeptly on academic and private sector questions and challenges. In return, you will have a unique opportunity to help shape the new Unit during its formative stages. You will also have the support of our experienced staff as you develop your statistical and business skills.
These posts are full time, fixed term for three years, in the first instance, with starting salary in the range of £32,548 - £38,833.
The closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm GMT on 04 May 2018.
